Vicky's Carriage Driving Journey
My first experience at the National Indoor Driving Championships, held at Arena UK 10 – 12 April 2026, was truly memorable and a significant milestone in my driving journey.
Over the many months, I have made considerable progress with the support of CDSGdd and GB POD Training Group, and this winter based myself with Hannah Illston-Barsby at Langton Farm Stables. The expert guidance and training provided by Robert Buck has been invaluable in developing both my confidence and technical ability. Regular participation in monthly competitions at Moreton Morrell College with the Midlands Carriage Driving Club has also played a key role in our preparation.
I have been fortunate to compete with Smurf, a wonderful pony owned by Julie Camm. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to drive such a talented and generous pony, who has been an integral part of this team journey.

Qualifying for the championships was an achievement in itself; however, competing at a national level presented a new and rewarding challenge. The atmosphere was exceptional, and the courses were notably more technical, requiring a higher level of precision and focus throughout.
To have been awarded Driving with Disabilities Novice Champion is an accomplishment I could not have imagined at the beginning of this journey. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved and sincerely grateful for the continued support, training, and encouragement from all those involved.
